How I Paired a Vintage Jacket with a Contemporary Swing Dress for a Low-Key Saturday in the Windy City
Dan and I traveled to Chicago this weekend for a wedding. The celebration was on Friday evening in the suburbs, so we were able to pencil in a city getaway on Saturday. It was perfect weather for sightseeing and a casual get-together with close friends. We spent the afternoon in the West Loop neighborhood exploring streets and sipping cappuccinos before heading to our friend’s condo to watch the Cubs game. A candid photo was taken of me and Dan on their balcony at sunset that might be on of my favorite happy snapshots of us, ever (it’s on my Instagram). We ate a ridiculous amount of delicious Greek takeout and laughed all evening before heading back to Dan’s parents’ house.
Because we were riding the train and doing plenty of walking, I wore a loose-fitted contemporary swing dress over leggings with my navy and black Tory Burch riding boots. For outerwear, I chose my ‘vintage’ gray plaid jacket from Bergdorf Goodman that my mom bought in the 1990’s. It was just the right weight for the temperature. I topped off the look with my Dolce & Gabbana sunnies and my black quilted Tory Burch cross-body purse.
