We love the arts scene in San Antonio, and we love attending events in support of our special museums. The McNay has been the subject of our SA’s Best posts before, and we are excited to share its current exhibit with those who are able to catch it from now until September 11th. It’s called Coney Island: Visions of an American Dreamland, 1861-2008, and you can read all about it here.
To kick off the exhibit’s opening and to fundraise for the museum and its programs, The McNay hosted a Coney Island themed Spring Party with live entertainers reminiscent of the vintage amusement park’s glory days as a ‘mecca for the masses.’ We had the best time socializing with our friends amidst the fire-breathing and tumbling acts, live music performances, auctions, and more.
Supporting the arts in a community is so important. Based on our experience here in San Antonio, arts nonprofits throw some of the most creative and fun events. We challenge you, as our readers, to get involved in helping your local museums, theaters, symphonies, ballets, and other cultural institutions flourish by attending their events and supporting their education initiatives.
How do you currently help strengthen the arts in your communities?
Thanks for reading!
