Dan and I decided to take our summer vacation in Connecticut and New York this year, because we had a wedding and my bridal shower to attend in the area during the same week. There were a lot of great experiences we shared during our time away, but here are just a few highlights from our trip.
Fourth of July Picnic
We celebrated the Holiday overlooking the Long Island Sound with sand between our toes at the Fairfield Country Club 4th of July Beach Picnic. The Club is just gorgeous, and the views of the sailboats along the shore are seriously picturesque.
We enjoyed hors d’ oeuvres at sunset, followed by a dinner buffet of everything you could ever want to eat at an Independence Day picnic, and my cousin Margot and I danced under the moonlight to the DJ on the deck while Dan and the rest of my family watched us from Adirondack chairs nearby.
New York City
We took the train into Manhattan the next morning to spend a few days at our leisure. We try to make it to New York City somewhat often. When we do, we usually book our days solid with exploring, shopping, seeing Broadway shows, and eating at amazing restaurants. This trip was more low-key. We didn’t see any shows, but we were able to enjoy spending time relaxing and reconnecting with good friends who live in the city.
Here is Dan taking a stroll through Gramercy Park, which was only about 2 blocks away from where we stayed:
During my college years, rather than studying abroad, I spent a semester at New York University. I have remained close with my two best friends from the Spring In New York program, Doree and Coty, who both still happen to live and work in NYC.
We hadn’t seen each other since the program (2010) when we took this picture! It was great spending time with them, and I miss them already.
Dan and I had a great trip, and we hope to get away again soon!
