Classic Street Style: Business Casual
I’m in New York City at a conference this weekend. Whenever I’m in the city (and yes, even though I’m from Texas I call NYC the city), I have two sartorial objectives: 1) comfort and 2) versatility. It’s all about being able to take your look from day to night here, and everything I packed I chose with that in mind. Because I’m only here for 3 days, I packed a sophisticated capsule wardrobe that consists mainly of pants, dresses, jackets, a blouse, very few pair of shoes, and simple jewelry.
Even though street style is an actual thing here in NYC, and there is many-a-trend to observe while people watching over a morning latte, my classic style is what I like to express when I’m on the East Coast. Classic doesn’t have to mean boring, either. Following a simple formula of pants or a dress with a jacket that has movement and character is tried and true. Accessorize your look with a great pair of shoes, style your blouse all the way buttoned up, wear your statement satchel to carry all of your life / meeting materials (and LBH, a street bagel), and you’re ready to hail your cab and be on your way to conquer the world. Check the blog next week for an Instagram Diary of my weekend in NYC! Be sure to add yourself to The E List below so you don’t miss any updates!
