Inspiration for the post:
The MILLY collection epitomizes bold, advanced contemporary fashion with a feminine edge.”
If personal style is an extension of who we are, then part of me is definitely a Milly girl and I think she’s part of all of us too. This look came together around Milly’s cotton stripe Anna dress, because putting it on made me feel brave enough to do something spontaneous: like hop on a moped and zoom around a few neighborhood streets with a baguette, some formaggio and a bottle of Perrier in my basket, just to feel the bow on the shoulder of this dress flapping in the wind. I don’t really take much risk these days, so the vision of that scenario is pretty exhilarating and it makes all of my 10 year-old dreams of living a-la Passport to Paris come true.
What I love about Milly is that her clothes are wearable because they are safe enough, but they push me out of my comfort zone just a little. They make me feel like I can dare to dream. The clothing we wear is not only a reflection of who we are inside, but it also can inform us from the outside in. Don’t be afraid to make a few bold choices here and there when putting a look together. You might be surprised by the amount of self-confidence and gumption you can gain from what you put on in the morning.
To take this look from an off-duty picnic and back to the 9-5 grind (are those hours even real anymore?), you could throw a blazer over this frilly frock, exchange the wedges for loafers and trade out the hat for a crown braid. Just because you’re now a grown-up, you wear blazers and work in an office doesn’t mean you have to lose the bold, risk-taking, spontaneous you that’s underneath.
